Marco Cacciamognaga leaves Locarno
- The event's administrative director is to be replaced by his deputy Mario Timbal.
The Locarno Film Festival's administrative director Marco Cacciamognaga is to resign at the end of April after eight years working for the event in order to "take on new professional challenges". The Locarno board of directors has suggested that current deputy director Mario Timbal succeed him.
This proposal was unanimously accepted by the management board. Marco Solari, the festival's president, said that he regretted "Marco Cacciamognaga's decision".
"Through his work, skills, and devotion, he contributed to reinforcing our event's renown on the international scene," he said.
Mario Timbal is officially to take on his position from May 1. Born in 1977, he graduated from the Lausanne Faculty of Arts, then was a journalist before working in sports marketing and eventually managing marketing for the Locarno Film Festival. In January 2012, he was nominated deputy director of the festival.
