Two Closing the Gap projects win Equity Pitch Prizes in Mallorca
- The €4,000 prize was split between two projects: Norway’s Code of Silence and Spain’s Crocodox
The latest edition of peacefulfish’s Closing The Gap: Equity Investment for 360° Content training course culminated in a pitch workshop with equity investors during the Mallorca Film Week in Palma de Mallorca (Spain). The Closing The Gap producers pitched their film and television projects to a panel of European investors including venture capital fund managers, business angels, and representatives from business angel networks.
The investors gave each of the participating producers detailed feedback about their project pitches and investment offers both during the pitching session itself and through one-to-one meetings before voting to award the Closing The Gap Equity Pitch Prize. The €4,000 prize was split between two projects: Code of Silence —a feature-length thriller from Norwegian production company Sweet Films— won Best Project Pitch while Crocodox—a transmedia documentary project made for children by children that integrates television episodes with a web portal and mobile apps—won Best Investment Offer for Spanish production company Unaymedia.
Closing The Gap is a training course for film, TV, transmedia, and games producers organized by creative industries financing consultancy peacefulfish (Berlin/London/Brussels) in association with the pan-European investor network Media Deals (Paris), the Apulia Film Commission (Bari), and the Mallorca Film Commission (Palma). The course trains producers on how to identify, approach, and pitch to private equity investors, teaching business skills that producers can use to find new sources of financing in the current financial climate.
The deadline for producers to apply for the next edition of Closing The Gap is January 21, 2013. Click here for additional information about the course including locations, dates, fees, and scholarships.
