Generator – Youth Audiovisual Forum kicks off today

- The Strasbourg event is to host 130 participants from 31 different countries

130 participants from 31 different European countries have been selected among 300 applicants to attend GENERATOR: Youth Audiovisual Forum, a 3-day-event organized by NISI MASA – European Network of Young Cinema, which kicks off today in Strasbourg.

On January 25 and 26 the Cinéma Star will present the short films that are being shown or produced in the NISI MASA network. The two short film programs are composed of the award winning films from festivals like Encounters Short and Animation Film Festival (UK), Festival du Cinéma Brive (France), Kaliber35 (Germany) or Polish Shorts (Poland) and of films that are produced by NISI MASA associations, annual workshops and kino kabarets. The films will be screened in original with English subtitles.

The different workshops and conferences to be held during the Forum will be attended by audiovisual experts and European culture who will give a complete and deep point of view of different aspects of the current situation of the audiovisual.

The European Culture and Youth Funding Panel will be composed by Georges Heck (Audiovisual and Cine Department, City of Strasbourg), and Aviva Silver (Head of Unit, MEDIA Programme, European Commission); whereas Alain Bieber (Director of ARTE Creative), Domenico La Porta (Editor in Chief of Cineuropa) and Petra Oplátková and Artemio Benki (InVItr0 project), will discuss the future of media in the Transmedia and the Ways They Change Traditional Media Panel.

Three interesting Culture Management Workshops will be also developed during the Forum, counting with the expertise word of Jude Lister (Marketing Manager, Encounters Short and Animation Film Festival), Riste Zmejkoski and Irena Efremovska (Cre8ive8), Weronika Drzewinska, Marcin Luczaj and Szymon Stemplewski (Ad Arte), Gaia Meucci (programmer for the Encounters Short Film Festival), Hanna Mironenko- Usikova (FESTAGENT, Russia) and Tomáš Prášek (Founder of Eventival, a long-time festival organizer).

On the other hand, Sabine Brantus (responsible for the short films at ARTE Strasbourg, France), Hannes Brühwiler (Interfilm Distribution,Germany), Dániel Deák (Co-founder of Daazo.com, Hungary), Ron Dyens (Sacrebleu Productions, France) and Alexandra Heneka (Sales Department at KurzfilmAgentur Hamburg, Germany) will give some tips about short films distribution and sales in a two-sessions seminar. The opportunities of new technologies in film will be also discussed through the Breaking Bad Habits workshop, guided by Synes Elischka (kino5, Random Film Festival).

Finally, NISI MASA experts will conduct a sample of the Network flagship projects such as European Short Pitch, Nisimazine or Kino Kabaret. Thus, 16 selected participants will develop their projects through a script marathon, conducted by Wim Vanacker (NISI MASA’s Head of Script Department and European Short Pitch manager), Jerôme Nunes (co-organiser of European Short Pitch) and Nadja Dumouchel (ARTE Germany, Torino Film Lab and European Short Pitch).

The Nisimazine film journalism workshop is transformed into Generazine, where participants will develop film journalism skills writing about the Forum activities, guided by Severine Beaudot (co-president of NISI MASA) and Luisa Riviere (NISI MASA, Sacrebleu Productions) and tutored by Alain Beiber (ARTE Creative), Jude Lister (Encounters Short and Animation Film Festival, Nisimazine), Vladan Petkovic (Cineuropa) and Clément Graminiès (Critikat).

Last but not least, Hannaleena Hauru (NISI MASA’s Head of Film Lab department), together with fellow members of Euphoria Borealis ry (Finland), will organize a Kino Kabaret GENERATOR, shooting short films in Strasbourg in record time that will be shown on January 27th as closing screening of GENERATOR at Cinéma l’Odyssée.
