According to Cinetel data, the season’s top ten Italian box office performers were: Lightning Strike (€10 million), I 2 soliti idioti (8.7), Tutto Tutto Niente Niente (8.5), Il peggior Natale della mia vita (7.8), The Best Offer (7.6), Viva l'Italia (5.3), Mai stati uniti (5.2), Born Twice (5), Una famiglia perfetta (3.3), and Gladiatori di Roma 3D (3.3).

The overall distribution ranking was however dominated by Universal Pictures Italia and Warner Bros Italia, with three films each among the season’s most successful: Madagascar 3, Lightning Strike and Ted, for the former, and Hobbit, Il cavaliere oscuro and Skyfall [+see also:

film profile] for the latter. The season’s biggest money maker was Madagascar 3 which made €21.9 million, followed by The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II (18.6 - Eagle Pictures) and Ice Age 4 (16.5 million - 20th Century Fox Italia).
