- Belgian financier Creative Wallonia and Wallimage CrossMedia join MEDIA, Creative Skillset and TorinoFilmLab as sponsors of The Pixel Lab 2013
European funding body Creative Wallonia and Wallimage CrossMedia are the new backers of The Pixel Lab 2013, an annual cross-media workshop that supports and develops content across multiple platforms.
The Pixel Lab, which is organised by Power to the Pixel and open to experienced professionals working in the European media industry, begins with a six-day workshop that develops and hones the skills that all media professionals now need to create, produce and distribute cross-media stories in order to maximise audience engagement and monetise effectively.
Liz Rosenthal, CEO of Power to the Pixel, said: “We’re delighted that Wallimage has lent its support to this year’s Pixel Lab. Wallimage has supported content creators and developers for a number of years, offering this increasingly important industry the ability to fund a variety of innovative projects across many different platforms.”
Creative Wallonia/Wallimage CrossMedia is a Belgian funding body which supports audiovisual productions and enterprises. The company and its subsidiaries have invested in projects such as The Spiral, The Congress and Minuscule, Valley of the Lost Ants and companies such as DreamWall, Screenity or Cuistax.
Philippe Reynaert, Director of Wallimage CrossMedia, said: “It’s a real chance for us to welcome The Pixel Lab just two years after the launch of Wallimage CrossMedia. This amazing workshop which was attended last year by our coproduction manager, will be a stepping stone towards international recognition of the Walloon creative industries supported by Creative Wallonia.”
The Pixel Lab offers delegates a six day residential workshop in the south of Belgium. This is followed by distance mentoring with Liz Rosenthal and Tishna Molla, heads of Power to the Pixel, as well as pitch presentation training and attendance at Power to the Pixel’s industry renowned Cross-Media Forum that takes place at the BFI in London in October, for producers and IP owners attending with a project.
The Pixel Lab is also sponsored by the MEDIA programme of the European Union, Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund as part of a Bigger Future 2, and TorinoFilmLab all of whom are partnering for the fourth consecutive year.
