Eight international directors to tell the Chianti story
- The application to participate in the first Slow Movie Contest is now online. The international short competition will seek to promote the Chianti territory through cinematographic art
Eight directors, one week in Chianti, all in the spirit of the slow philosophy. The application to compete in the first Slow Movie Contest is now online. The international competition will seek to promote the Chianti region through the cinematographic art of short films and the talent of eight young filmmakers, both Italian and foreign.
The selected directors will be guests for a week in different parts of the Chianti region and will be required to make a short film bringing forth the spirit of the slow philosophy, similar to that of the slow food movement and slow cities, which interpret the concept of living a high quality life. The Slow Movie Contest will be a biannual event and the theme to kick it off will be “local arts and crafts.”
Applications will come to a close on April 30 and will involve supplying a short made after 2010. Directors will be filming during the summer months and will be able to take advantage of support from the Regional Media branch of the Tuscan Film Commission for post-production activities. The shorts will be presented in Florence during the fall in the format of an eight-part documentary, and will then be presented in various festivals as well as used for tourism purposes.
A technical jury will hand out three different awards: best film, best director and best screenplay.
