Farewell to Trovajoli, a great master

Armando Trovajoli recently passed away at the age of 95 in Rome. A pianist and composer, he wrote music for films and plays. Among his most famous works of art were Bitter Rice and Two Women as well as the comedy "Rugantino", which is set to be remade for Broadway and "Aggiungi un posto a tavola". His collaboration on films with Vittorio De Sica continued with Yesterday, today and tomorrow and Marriage Italian Style.

Born in Rome, the son of a violinist, Trovajoli started playing the piano at age six. After obtaining his diploma at the Santa Cecilia conservatory, he started a career in jazz, next to the likes of Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt and Louis Armstrong. In 2007, he received the career David di Donatello award, Italy’s most prestigious film-industry recognition.
