"I could have gone to therapy, but instead I made this film,” director Sophie Chiarello laughed during a recent meeting between the press and the cast. Angela was given the role of Eva, a woman coming towards her fiftieth birthday, trying to maintain a balance between work and avoiding being fired, keeping up with her 18-year-old rocker daughter and an 80-year-old mother, whose passion for life involves an entourage of ex-husbands and sex toys.

"Nobody likes to grow old,” Angelo Finocchiaro continued, "you look back to tie up loose ends, something I do every day. We enjoyed telling this story, in a most intimate and ironic way. As an homage to women in their fifties.”

An anthem to menopause confronted with absolute joy, with a main character whose facial expressions are worthy of the great comics, and whose jokes are irresistible. Like when an elderly woman offers her seat up to our protagonist on the bus.

The screenplay, written by the actress together with three men, Valerio Bariletti, Walter Fontana and Pasquale Plastino, was staged by Italian resident, French Sophie Chiarello.

“It already contained all the elements to tell a modern tale based on real life,” the director explained. “We had an opportunity to tell the story of women to everyone, not just to each other, and Angela’s story was a great one, full of irony. The film is a one of a kind, and fills a gap in the Italian landscape.” The very French finale certainly confirms this statement.

Angela Finocchiaro is joined by Giovanni Storti from the Aldo Giovanni and Giacomo trio (the other two have cameo roles), who plays a mysterious guardian angel. Others include Elio from the Storie Tese, Raul Cremona, Laura Marinoni, Rosalina Neri and young singer Antonella Lo Coco, who came to be known thanks to X-Factor, in her cinema debut. “We asked our friends to read the script, and they all wanted to participate in the film,” explained Paolo Guerra, producer for Agidi with Medusa Film
