A positive balance sheet for Berlin
- With more spectators than ever before and thousands of professionals present, the Berlinale seems oblivious to the economic crisis
The 63rd edition of the Berlin Film Festival (February 7th to 18th, 2013) welcomed a record number of spectators. The organizers have revealed that 303,077 admissions were sold to the public.
Despite the economic crisis, the interest of professionals did not diminish. 19,630 accredited members of the industry, including 3,694 press representatives, came to attend the event from 124 countries.
The EFM, which proposed 816 films over nine days spread out over 1,166 screenings in the 40 venues reserved for the market, welcomed 8,000 participants representing 95 countries, which is more than last year. In particular, professional operators were present in greater numbers.
The festival’s various initiatives continue to work well. The EFM Industry Debates were, for example, attended by 1,000 visitors.
