French Film Festival of Athens ready for 14th run

- The world premiere of Les Gamins will open the festival, while Alexandre Desplat and Carole Bouquet will be guests of honour

Rounding up what’s best in each year’s French-speaking productions from around the world, the festival will raise the curtain on April 4 with the world premiere of Anthony Marciano’s Les Gamins, two weeks ahead of its release in France. Patrice Leconte’s The Suicide Shop [+see also:

will feature at the closing gala on April 10, with the director present at the screening.

Brigitte Rouan will also be visiting to present her latest directorial effort, A Greek Type of Problem [+see also:

, while director Régis Roinsard and screenwriter Daniel Presley will be in Athens for the local premiere of Populaire [+see also:

The films will be vying for the audience award as well as the one handed out by the festival’s jury, this year consisted of Venice-awarded actress Ariane Labed, acclaimed local director and producer Thanos Anastopoulos, Los Angeles French Film Festival head Alejandra Norambuena Skira and Greek writer Dimitri Stefanakis.
