The 40th anniversary edition of one of Europe’s most important international television markets, MIPTV, will run in Cannes from 24 until 28 March.
This year’s edition saw a 3 per cent rise in attendance with 1224 companies from 58 countries exhibiting their wares, lead by host country France (with 194 companies) and followed by the United Kingdom, the US, Canada, Spain, Germany, South Korea, Italy, Belgium and Japan. A total of 2,484 companies and 2803 buyers are attending.
the 40th edition will see the documentary market, Mip Doc running together with MILIA, which is specialised in interactive content. The two events were combined to ensure closer and more efficient collaboration between both sectors of the industry.
The programme also includes numerous conferences that will allow industry insiders to focus on improving their products through a careful analysis of what defines a successful format in terms of creativity, as well as discussions about important issues like international rights of formats and the impact DVD is having on the market.
On 25 March CNC DG David Kessler will present the "line up of audiovisual productions that benefited from CNC funding in 2002" as well as the results of a survey carried out by the CNC and TV France International into "the degree to which French programmes have penetrated foreign markets".
