- The German Nordmedia fund supports 46 projects with €2.4 million
The thriller Allein gegen die Zeit – Der Film by Alex Schmidt and the German drama Wir sind jung. Wir sind stark by Burhan Quarbani are among the feature films to receive support from the Nordmedia fund in Northern Germany. In the first session of 2013, the Hanover-based regional fund gave €2.4 milion to 46 projects, which include 26 film and television productions, three script developments and the project development of two feature films and a documentary.
The feature film Allein gegen die Zeit – der Film by German writer/director Alex Schmidt who presented her mystery thriller Forgotten at the Venice film festival last year, receives the biggest production support of €450,000. The young genre expert will bring the adventurous children series to the big screen - it was successfully produced as a real-time TV event for kids by Askania Media Filmproduktion. The story, about five young students (photo) who have to escape from an obsessed sect, is based on the book by Michael Demuth.
With a sum of €100,000, Nordmedia supports the political German drama Wir sind jung. Wir sind stark by Burhan Quarbani that deals with the excesses of anti-foreignism in Eastern Germany in 1992. The teamWorx film is produced by Jochen Laube, who will be introduced by the European Film Promotion as this year‘s Producer on Move from Germany at the Cannes film festival.
The film adaptation of Das Zimmermädchen by Sohnemänner writer/director Ingo Haeb receives production support of €.120,000.
Among the writers who obtain script development from Nordmedia is the Das Leben ist nichts für Feiglinge director André Erkau with his new project Muschelschubser. The story centres on four losers who don't have a job, a lover, money or health, but instead of giving up they decide to fight the situation together.
