Shooting for Sibilia, Ozpetek and Mazzacurati to begin in May

Good weather is bringing new film sets to Italy. Monday May 6 will mark the beginning of filming for Smetto quando voglio, Sydney Sibilia’s first feature film. The young director and screenwriter has already authored many shorts and advertising spots. The film will be produced by Domenico Procacci’s Fandango and Matteo Rovere’s Ascent Film with contribution from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiBAC) of €200,000, and will star Edoardo Leo, Valeria Solarino, Libero De Rienzo and Neri Marcorè. Filming will take place in and around Rome over seven weeks, finishing on June 21.
On May 13, Ferzan Ozpetek will get going on his new film Allacciate le cinture. Written by the director together with Gianni Romoli, who will be producing with Tilde Corsi and Rai Cinema, the film will be shot in and around Lecce over eight weeks, with the first part taking place on May 16-June 6, and the second on July 8-August 6. The cast includes Filippo Scicchitano, Francesco Arca, Kasja Smutniak, Carolina Crescentini, Paolo Minaccioni, Elena Sofia Ricci, Luisa Ranieri, Carla Signoris and Giulia Michelini.
Hitting the set on May 20 will be La regina della neve by Carlo Mazzacurati and Fuga di Cervelli by Paolo Ruffini. Mazzacurati’s new film (The Right Distance [+see also:

film profile]), written by him, Doriana Leondeff and Marco Pettenello, is being produced by Angelo Barbagallo at BiBi Film. The stars of the show are Isabella Ragonese and Valerio Mastandrea. The cast will include Ruffini himself as well as model Olga Kent, YouTube sensation Guglielmo Scilla, known as Willwoosh, Frank Matano from the Iene television show, Luca Peracino and Andrea Pisani from the "I panpers" act, Rosalia Porcaro, Biagio Izzo and Marco Messeri.
June will be Maldamore’s month to start shooting. The film is directed by Angelo Longoni and produced for Italian Dream Factory by Maria Grazia Cucinotta. Two couples will be at the centre of the story, one composed by Luca Zingaretti and Ambra Angiolini, the other by Alessio Boni and Luisa Ranieri. The cast will also include Claudia Gerini. Shooting will take place in Trento. June will also be the kick-off month for Leonardo Pieraccioni’s latest film, Un fantastico via vai, in which a bored couple goes back in time to when they were students. The film is produced by Levante Film and Rai Cinema and distributed by 01.
