The film had two market premieres earlier this week in Cannes and is attracting a lot of interest from buyers, as well as the Directors’ Fortnight entry Magic Magic, sold in collaboration with The Exchange.

Marina Fuentes, head of Barcelona and Madrid-based 6 Sales is very pleased with the way this year’s market has kicked off. “My agenda is full and I have several offers on the three films screening at the market.”

Big Bad Wolves was snapped up by Magnolia Pictures for its genre arm Magnet Releasing just before its Cannes screenings. “The pitch black humour in Big Bad Wolves could only succeed with truly deft, intelligent filmmaking,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “With this wonderfully nasty and thrilling film, co-directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado have proven themselves to be major talents with big careers ahead of them.” The US release is set for later this year.

6 Sales’ other major Cannes title Magic Magic, the English language debut of Sundance winning director Sebastian Silva (The Maid), has its second market screening today Sunday ahead of its official Directors’ Fortnight screening on Thursday. “The psychological thriller is targeting the young audience passionate about genre films,” Fuentes told Cineuropa. Juno Temple and Emily Browning star in the true story of a young American who begins to unravel while on vacation in Chile.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions pre-bought the title over a year ago for the US, Canada, Latin America, Scandinavia, South Africa and Eastern Europe. Wild Side/Le Pacte has French distribution rights.

The third 6 Sales title screening at the market is the Canadian/Mexican The Boy Who Smells Like Fish by Analeine Cal y Mayor, a quirky romantic comedy to be distributed in Canada by Alliance Releasing.
