Locarno now awards the Europa Cinemas label

For the first time this year, the Europa Cinemas Label distinction will also be awarded during the Locarno Film Festival (August 7th to 17th, 2013).
The label exists since 2003. A jury composed of the members of Europa Cinemas gives out a prize to the Best European Film in the “Discovery” sections of the biggest festivals: Directors’ Fortnight (Cannes), Giornate degli autori (Venice), Panorama (Berlin), East of the West, and the Karlovy Vary competition. And since 2013, also during the Concorso Internazionale and Concorso Cineasti del Presente (Locarno).
The films that receive this label benefit from the support of the Europa Cinemas Network and thus enjoy further publicity, enabling them to be screened for a longer period of time.
