Locarno: A Leopard of Honour for Werner Herzog
- A selection of ten of his films will be screened in Locarno and the director will take part in a discussion with the public
This year, German director, screenwriter, producer, writer and actor Werner Herzog will receive a Swisscom Leopard of Honour at the Locarno Film Festival (from August 7th to 17th). A selection of ten of his films will be screened and the director will also take part in a discussion with the public.
The artistic director of the festival, Carlo Chatrian, said about Herzog: “During his long career, Herzog has succeeded in moving from fiction to documentary, from small budget films to movies with great stars, without ever losing his identity".
The Leopard of Honour, which Swisscom will be awarding for the fifth consecutive year, was previously awarded to Bernardo Bertolucci, Ken Loach, Paul Verhoeven, Jean-Luc Godard, Abbas Kiarostami, William Friedkin, JIA Zhang-ke, Alain Tanner, Abel Ferrara and Leos Carax.
