Fruit of Passion at Christmas

by

Contrary to rumours, the domestic release of a new Dutch film entitled De Passievrucht (Fruit of Passion), is scheduled for Christmas 2003 and not this spring. The correction was made by a spokesperson for the movie’s Dutch distributor, Independent Films.
Based on the eponymous novel by Karel Glastra about a man who discovers that he is not, after all, the biological father of his 13-year-old son, and directed by Maarten Treurniet, the erroneous release date of Fruit of Passion was announced by Glastra’s publisher. The film is scheduled to go into production this April in Amsterdam. The book sold 260,000 copies in Holland
Fruit of Passion has a Euros2m budget, Euros400,000 of which from producer, Monique van Welzen of the Amsterdam-based 24 FPS Features, and the remainder from public funds (including the Rotterdam Fonds voor de Film - RFF – who contributed Euros40,000). This will also be renowned TV director Maarten Treurniet’s feature directorial debut and star Carice van Houten, Jan Decleir and Gijs Scholten van Aschat.
