The thrilling story written by the author of many bestsellers was given to the experienced screenwriter Ruth Toma. Der Koch will tell the story of Maravan, a young Tamil refugee from Sri Lanka who finds himself working as a kitchen assistant in a great Swiss restaurant. With his beautiful waitress colleague Andrea, who sadly isn’t into men, he decides to use his talents as a chef and what he learned of aphrodisiac cooking from his grandmother to start a luxury catering service called "Love Food". His clients are very influent people who are close to political circles but often involved in shady business, notable arms trafficking with Sri-Lanka.
The role of Maravan is played by British actor Hamza Jeetooa and that of Andrea by Jessica Schwarz. The cast also notably includes Hanspeter Müller-Drossaart, Natalie Perera, Jean-Pierre Cornu and Corinna Kirchhoff. The team is currently present in St Moritz, a famous Swiss resort. The filming will then continue in Zurich, Cologne and Bombay until July 23rd.
Der Koch, produced by Senator, will be distributed by the German giant as of next year.
