Frédérique Bredin appointed President of the CNC

Succeeding Eric Garandeau, Frédérique Bredin was today appointed by the Council of Ministers as President of France's Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC) where she will take up her duties on July 15th.

A graduate of the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA), Frédérique Bredin (aged 56) began her career in 1984 at the Ministry of Culture where she was involved in cinematographic policy. After serving as cultural advisor to the President of France from 1986 to 1988, she became the youngest member of the National Assembly (she also had a seat in the European Parliament from 1994 to 1996). She then became Minister for Youth and Sports from 1991 to 1993, then Secretary of the Socialist Party entrusted with Culture and Communication from 1995 to the year 2000.

After withdrawing from the political arena in 2000, she joined Lagardère Active where she occupied several posts until 2009 : Director of Strategy and Development, Director for New Markets for Hachette Filipacchi Médias, Director of Marketing Studies for the magazine press France, CEO of the Executive Board and Editor of Le Journal du Dimanche. She was appointed Inspector of Public Finances in 2011.
