Lone Scherfig shoots The Riot Club at Pinewood

Director Lone Scherfig has commenced a six-week shoot for The Riot Club (Posh), based on the stage play of the same name by Laura Wade. The film follows two first year students amongst the privileged elite of Oxford University, determined to join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening. Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Max Irons (The Host), Douglas Booth (LOL) and Sam Reid (Redd Inc.) star.

Blueprint Pictures’ Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent produce the film, with the support of Pinewood Productions, BFI Film Fund and Film4. The film will also shoot in London, Oxford and Winchester.

Meanwhile Pinewood Studios and Seven Stars Media have announced that Malcolm Wall will lead their Chinese joint venture company Song Lin that was announced in April and established to assess business proposals in the growing Chinese entertainment market including the provision of co-production opportunities for film and television producers and creation of film themed projects. Wall will be based in China to establish a project team and oversee the launch of the business 

Wall was formerly Chief Executive, Content of Virgin Media, Chief Operating Officer at United Business Media plc and most recently Chief Executive Officer and then Advisor to the Board at Abu Dhabi Media.

Pinewood’s Ivan Dunleavy said, “Song Lin is an exciting prospect for the company. China’s growth in recent years has been phenomenal and this is especially true in the media sector. Pinewood wanted to appoint someone with the experience and skill to develop our offering in this important region and Malcolm was an obvious fit.”
