The Stranger Within no stranger to Sony, which picks up Danish feature debut
- Danish director Adam Neutsky-Wulff’s 'sexy psychological thriller' with William Baldwin and Estella Warren in the leads will be released worldwide on September 3

Based in Copenhagen and Los Angeles, Danish director-producer Adam Neutsky-Wulff and his partner Michael Aoun’s production outfit Drama Deluxe has got off to a flying start, when Neutsky-Wulff’s English-language feature debut, The Stranger Within was sold to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for worldwide DVD release, starting with the US on September 3.
Danish international sales boutique LevelK, which screened the €1.2 million “sexy psychological thriller” to buyers during the Berlin International Film Festival, signed the contract excluding Korea, where Medialog will open theatrically next month (August); former Yoguslavia, where Cinemania Group picked up the rights; and the Nordic countries, which are being negotiated.
Shot on locations in Spain, New York and Copenhagen, from an original script by Neutsky-Wulff, The Stranger Within stars US actor William Baldwin (photo) and Canadian actress Estella Warren as the perfect couple who become the perfect targets of a scam during a dream holiday on a remote Mediterranean island. On the first night a hysterical woman (Sarah Butler) arrives at their house, with blood on her hands – the psychiatrist (Baldwin), offers to help her, but her suggestive behaviour and penchant for mind games make his actress wife suspicious.
“Having lived and breathed this project for years, I am extremely happy that Sony has picked it up for worldwide distribution – I have understood this rarely happens to a first feature,” said Neutsky-Wulff. “We wanted to create an American looking psychological thriller with a small international team on a very tight budget and schedule, and we obviously delivered,” added Aoun. – Credited for, ao, 39 episodes for various Danish television series during the last 12 years, including 2900 Happiness, Neutsky-Wulff is now focusing on English-language movies for international audiences.
