Danish invasion of Moscow & Rome
by Annika Pham
Running almost contemporaneously with the Nordic Visions – Sguardi dal Nord Festival in Rome from 28 March to 17 April, will be a review of 20 recent and classic Danish films by Carl Th. Dreyer, Henning Carsen and Jørgen Leth in Moscow from 5-27 April.
More industry-orientated than the Italian review, the Moscow was organised by the Danish Film Institute, the Danish Embassy in Moscow, Cinema 35 and Russia’s film museum, the Muzej Kino, and includes a seminar on Danish films (11-12 April) focusing on Danish filmmaking methods, financing, co-production and support systems.
The Danish contingent going to the Russian capital includes industry heavyweights like Mogens Rukov from the National Film School, DFI head Henning Camre and DFI film consultant, Vinca Wiedeman, as well as filmmakers Susanne Bier whose Dogma title Open Hearts [+see also:
