The shooting of America, Here We Come! starts in Bucharest

Well known for his work in television, director Razvan Savescu started shooting his first feature, America, Here We Come! at the end of last week, in Bucharest. The comedy is produced by Tudor Giurgiu and Bogdan Craciun for Libra Film.

America, Here We Come! focuses on the misadventures of a small town theatre company whose actors find themselves in New York. Their lack of travel experience and language skills is the premise for amusing situations. Some popular Romanian actors round up the cast, amongst them Mihai Calin (to be seen in a main part in Roxanne [+see also:

The screenplay is written by Savescu together with Oana Ioachim. Liviu Marghidan is the DoP. Shooting will take place in Bucharest until August 18 and the team will then fly to the US for another ten days of production.

Exclusively produced by Libra Film with a budget of €550,000 America, Here We Come! received a grant of approximately €170,000 in 2011 from the Romanian Film Centre.

The film will be released nationally by Transilvania Film, with a premiere expected in the summer of 2014.

Razvan Savescu is known for some of the most popular Romanian sitcoms in recent years. His short Caviar (2010) has been selected in several international film festivals.
