Swing: three musical women for Csaba Fazekas
- The filmmaker discovered with Happy Birthday is currently shooting his second feature film, produced by Unio Film
After winning 5 prizes at the Hungarian Film Week in 2003 with Happy Birthday (including one for Best Feature Film), Csaba Fazekas (photo) is shooting his second opus since July 29th around the Balaton lake: Swing. The cast of this film whose storyline revolves around the idea that sometimes you have to do crazy things to be taken seriously, features the Hungarian icon Mari Törocsik (Special Mention in 1971 and Best Actress Award in Cannes in 1976), Eszter Csákányi, Eszter Ónodi, Franciska Törocsik, János Kulka, Gábor Máté and Béla Mészáros.
Written by the director, the screenplay recounts the story of three women, from three different generations, brought together in a singing band by their shared love of music... and an urgent need for money. Were you ever abandoned by your loved one? Was he overwhelming and disappointing? Did you need money to pay your bills? Did you feel like the whole world was conspiring against you? Maybe all this happened at once. But do you think that setting up a small music band could solve your financial and personal issues? No, probably not. The characters in this story nevertheless believe it might and it will work out... well, in part... and only for a while.
Produced by István Bodzsár for Unio Film, Swing, whose shooting will end on September 20th, benefits from a coproduction by Sparks Ltd and the backing of MTM-SBS TV2 Television and the Hungarian National Film Fund (who handles the international sales).
