Written by the director and Frédérique Moreau, the screenplay was inspired by the Fortin case which made the headlines in France in 2009-2010 after the arrest of a father who had kidnapped his two sons, then aged six and seven years old, in 1998 and had lived with them on the run on the margins of society (notably without taking them to school) for over ten years, in the Normandie countryside and the Cévennes region.
Produced by Mathieu Bompoint for Mezzanine Films, The Good Life was coproduced by Love Streams agnès b., with M41, Arane, Dublin Films, La vie est Belle Films Associés, Sedna Films and Shellac (which will handle the French release). International sales will be handled by German company The Match Factory.
