The Forgotten Kingdom wins Cambridge Golden Punt

film profile]. From the 150 films screened, the Golden Punt Audience Award for best fiction feature went to Andrew Mudge’s The Forgotten Kingdom. The South Africa/US/Lesotho co-production tells the tale of a young man obliged to make a pilgrimage from the bustle of Johannesburg to his native Lesotho upon learning that his father has passed away.
The Silver Punt Audience Award for best documentary went to Clemente Bicocchi’s Italy/US film Black Africa, White Marble (photo), about a multimillion white elephant mausoleum project in impoverished Congo-Brazzaville.
The Crystal Punt Audience Award for best short when to Erik Schmitt and Stephan Müller’s German production Rhino Full Throttle where a boy makes his way through Berlin in search of the city’s soul.
Abi Loosemore was named the winner of this year’s Young Critic Award. A panel of 18 young critics, aged between 16-19 and in full time education were selected from various Cambridge schools and colleges. Each young critic was asked to submit a minimum of three reviews of 250 words.
