The 27th edition of the Braunschweig Festival (November 5-10), which focuses on young European cinema and music, opened yesterday with, for the first time in the history of the event, a great screening-concert. The festival’s other important award, the Europa Prize, which rewards an actor or actress for his/her contribution to European cinema, was announced in advance. The KINEMA section, bringing together some of the films competing for the Heinrich, will as always witness the attribution of the Franco-German Prize for Young filmmakers and, as usual, Braunschweig dedicates several spaces to student films, music and short movies. The regions in the spotlight this year are Upper-Normandy and especially Croatia, to which a special programme is dedicated with 14 new films entitled "Croatia goes Europe".
