Europe showcased in Brussels
- 25 Continental first-and-second features including Hungary's Hukkle and Norway's Jonny Vang, plus six short films, screening from 25 April to 3 May
Under the directorship of producer Dominique Janne, the European Film Festival of Brussels will take place from 25 April to 3 May in Flagey.
Specialised in premieres of first and second European films, Flagey has always preferred quality to quantity. This year’s programme includes 25 features screening for the first time in Belgium (four of which are world premieres and fifteen were selected for the official competition and a purse of Euros35,000). The titles in competition include Corps à Corps by François Hanss and Arthur-Emmanuel Pierre (France), En territoire Indien by Lionel Epp (France/Belgium), Jonny Vang by Jens Lien (Norway), El Traje by Alberto Rodriguez (Spain), Noí the Albinoi by Dagur Kári (Iceland) and The Death of Klinghoffer by Penny Woolcock (UK).
Six shorts are also taking part.
The festival will pay tribute to the late Belgian singer-songwriter, Jacques Brel with the screening of the first film he directed, Franz and this year’s opening film is Hungarian György Pálfi’s Hukkle.
