The Danish Film Institute has awarded Dkr 17.7m (Euros2.383m) to three new feature films, including a new project by the director of the 2002 hit comedy, Okay (over 235,000 admissions) Jesper W. Nielsen. His new project goes under the working title of Kender du ikke John Lennon (Don’t You Know John Lennon) and it will reunite the team that brought us Okay: screenwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson, producer Peter Beck (Angel Productions) and will star Thomas Bo Larsen (Mona’s World) and Lene Maria Christensen. The film is scheduled to go into production in November.
Møgunger, Giacomo Campeotto's directorial feature debut produced by Nina Crone for Crone Film Production, received Dkr 5.5m (Euros740,611) from the DFI’s 60/40 Subsidy Scheme. Scripted by Søren Danielsen, the film will be released domestically by SF Film.
Tæl til 100, produced by Nimbus Film's Sidsel Kron Breck, was given Dkr 6,7m (Euros902,198) from the DFI’s “Feature Film Consultancy Scheme”. The film is about Thomas and his mother, Anne's attempts to escape from the clutches of a psychopathic husband and father. The project was written and directed by Linda Krogsøe Holmberg, who won major awards at the Oberhausen Short Film and the Chicago Children’s Festivals for Tro, Håb & Batman. Tæl til 100 will star Frederik Paarup, Troels Lyby and Anders W. Berthelsen, and be distributed in Denmark by Nordisk Film.
