film profile]. The cast of the Franco-Belgian feature includes Jean-Jacques Rausin (the director’s key actor), Myriam Boyer, Serge Riaboukine, Fanny Touron and Franc Bruneau.

Written by the filmmaker (noticed with his shorts Rien d'insoluble, Le Crabe and Mauvaise lune), the screenplay focuses on Michel Peneud who is afraid to die, contemplating his dying mother, her pale face and removable breast. He doesn’t want to end up like her. But he is starting to lose his hair, and a worrying growth has appeared on his chest, symptoms that remind him of his mother’s cancer. The doctor assures him it’s all benign, but in that case, why is he offering Michel to do further tests? Now, Michel is certain: he’s going to die.

According to him, Je me tue à le dire is “funny and moving, in the spirit of Harold et Maud by Hal Ashby with a touch of cruelty reminiscent of Italian cinema.”

Produced at 51% by Belgium via Novak Prod and 49% by France via Tobina Film, Je me tue à le dire benefits from an advance on receipts from the CNC, backing from the Brittany region and a production aid from the French Community of Belgium. Filming will take place in Rennes from November 25 to December 14 before moving to Belgium for 17 days. French distribution and international sales are in the final stages of negotiations.
