will begin shooting in Australia from December 7, followed by a UK schedule in January. The Inbetweeners began life on television as a hugely successful comedy that played in the UK between 2008-2010. The series that spanned three seasons followed four inept friends, Will, Jay, Neil and Simon as they stumbled from one catastrophe to another. A film version was inevitable and The Inbetweeners Movie, directed by Ben Palmer, became the highest grossing British comedy of all time, grossing more than $88 million.

This time around, series creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley will take on directorial duties for the script they have written. It is a Bwark Productions and Film4 coproduction with Spencer Millman as producer.

Morris and Beesley said, “We can’t say too much as we don’t want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas. Oh, and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they’re let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we’re hoping to deliver a film that you’ll enjoy even more than the last one.”

The film will release in the UK in August 2014.
