Pinewood Studios has collaborated with the British Film Institute (BFI) and have invited movie directors of the future to learn the tricks of the trade from some of the leading names in British filmmaking, by offering young people the chance to join the BFI Film Academy. They will also receive tours of the studios, practical workshops with camera and editing equipment and guest speakers from the film industry.

The academy, open to 16 to 19-year-olds, is delivered by film company Resource Productions and is part of the BFI’s Film Forever five-year plan to support the future success of UK film.

Amanda Nevill, CEO of the BFI, said, “We’re proud that through the BFI Film Academy young people of all backgrounds are given a springboard to a career in film. Following an enormously successful inaugural year in 2012, the Academy is now establishing itself as a gold standard training and development programme with a vision for future growth.”

The BFI Film Academy will take place every Saturday, January 18 to February 22, 2014, with 18 places available.
