, Danish producer Vinca Wiedemann has been appointed headmaster of the National Film School of Denmark as of March 1, 2014. Wiedemann will succeed Poul Nesgaard, who will leave the position after 21 years.

"With Wiedemann’s professional experience, insight and network, her visions as well as her clout, perception and analytical sense, the school got a head who can manoeuvre in the reality and the challenges that the film school is facing. I look forward to seeing her results,” said Danish culture minister Marianne Jelved.

“Danish films, both features and documentaries, are an outstanding success. The film school's most important job in the years to come is to be an inspiring and challenging oasis to new filmmakers, who are trying to find their own stories and their own views of the world,” Wiedemann added.

An educated film editor, Wiedemann was a teacher at the school between 1990-1995. In 1999, she was signed on as feature film consultant by the Danish Film Institute, to establish New Danish Screen in 2003 an become the programme’s first artistic director. Since 2007 she has worked in various capacities for Zentropa Entertainments.

Besides being script supervisor for von Trier, Vinterberg and Susanne Bier, she has produced such films as Pernille Fischer Christensen’s A Family [+see also:

(2010) and Someone You Love (2013), and Katrine Wiedemann’s A Caretaker’s Tale [+see also:

(2012). A dramaturgist on Swedish actress-director Pernilla August’s Beyond [+see also:

(2011), she also worked with August on her upcoming TV series for Danish pubcaster DR, The Legacy.
