Women in Temptation broke records in terms of numbers of spectators (1,250,000 viewers) in 2010 and Eliška Balzerová won a Czech Lion (awards handed out by the Czech Film and Television Academy) for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Vilma, the protagonist’s mother. The film follows a marriage counsellor in her 40’s who suddenly faces similar situation as her clients. She was left by her husband for a younger version of herself while her daughter and mother try to support her in a new life. The story focuses on the romantic escapades of these three generations of women who discover that they are not so different after all.
“I was impressed at how funny, touching and sensitive the film Jiří wrote and directed was. Women in Temptation is a sophisticated comedy within the best tradition of the genre,” commented Unwin while adding “the UK is a different country with its own specificities, so in these terms, our writers have enough space.” UK-set Women in Temptation will be the first remake of a Czech film and is set for production early this year.
