High Point reflects on The Mirror

UK based sales outfit High Point has acquired ‘found footage’ horror film The Mirror by Edward Boase (Blooded) for international sales and will introduce it to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin (February 6 – 14). The ripped from the headlines story is inspired by 2013 news reports about a haunted mirror that was for sale on eBay that set off a fusillade of discussion across social media. Taking its cue from where the newspapers left off, The Mirror focuses on three flatmates who purchase the mirror. Spurred on by the US based James Randi Foundation’s offer of $1 million to anyone who can come up with hard proof of the supernatural, they set up round the clock cameras in the hopes of capturing evidence of something going bump in the night.

Boase produced the film with Hamish Moseley for Magma Pictures and Robert Taylor at the Artists Partnership. Boase said, “I was too frightened to use the real mirror, now in the hands of a new owner, and opted for a prop one instead: I didn’t want seven years of bad luck, or worse!”

High Point’s Managing Director, Carey Fitzgerald, said, “The Mirror makes a genuinely compelling offering to the horror canon. It takes our age-old fear of what may lie beyond the looking glass and sets it firmly in a contemporary frame that is unsettlingly convincing.”
