Altitude expands UK theatrical slate
- Festival favourites like Love Is Strange, Fruitvale Station to get commercial theatrical release
Altitude Film Distribution has added five new critically acclaimed titles to its UK theatrical release slate, bringing the total to eight. These include Ira Sachs’ Berlin Panorama selection Love Is Strange; Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, winner of last year’s Prix de l’Avenir at Un Certain Regard at Cannes and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2012; and Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson’s Toronto and London festival selection All Cheerleaders Die. Under-production titles for UK theatrical release include Rodney Ascher’s The Nightmare and Nick Read’s Bolshoi Babylon.
Previously announced release acquisitions include Morgan Neville’s 20 Feet From Stardom; Asif Kapadia’s as yet untitled Amy Winehouse documentary; and Simon Duric’s The Loch.
Will Clarke, Chairman and joint-CEO of Altitude Film Entertainment said, “For Altitude to be working with such highly talented, original and award-winning filmmakers with our first release slate is a fantastic position to be in. Ira Sachs, Ryan Coogler, Rodney Ascher, Asif Kapadia and Nick Read, are very different filmmakers in their creative style, but their films are, in their own ways, important, insightful, original and in pure terms, entertaining, and this is what Altitude wants to bring to UK audiences.”
