EFM: The Intouchables go to Bollywood

film profile] by Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, which grossed $426.6 million dollars worldwide, Gaumont put the remake rights on sale at the European Film Market (EFM). Indian producer Guneet Monga, who gained international attention with the Cannes sales hit The Lunchbox [+see also:

film profile] by Ritresh Batra, purchased with her company, Sikhya Entertainment, the remake rights to the French comedy for India. After her successful partnership with Karan Johar from Dharma Prods on The Lunchbox, she will team up with the producer once again. They are already in discussion with several writers and directors in order to adapt the plot for an Indian audience.
Gaumont also sold the remake rights of The Intouchables to Calinos in Turkey as well as Paris Filmes in Brazil. Meanwhile, the negotiations for the US remake are still ongoing with The Weinstein Co.
