Abbas Kiarostami on the jury for short films and Cinéfondation

The film-school projects in the Cinéfondation Selection and the short films in competition at the 67th Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May 2014) will be judged by a very high-ranking jury, which will be chaired by the Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami (selected five times for competition at Cannes and winner of the Palme d’Or in 1997 with Le Goût de la cerise). In this role, he is taking over from Jane Campion (who, this year, will chair the jury of the official competition – read the news), Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Martin Scorsese.

The Cannes short-film competition has brought such directors as Lynne Ramsay and Nuri Bilge Ceylan to the public’s attention, while the Cinéfondation Selection has previously presented film-school projects directed by, for example, Kornél Mundruczo and Jessica Hausner.
