McLoughlin: "Producer on the Move"

by

David McLoughlin the producer of Dead Bodies, was selected to be one of the 21 ‘Producers on the move’ at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May).
McLoughlin produced his first feature film, Alan Gilsenan’s All Souls Day, in 1997, and worked as a trainee producer on Jim Sheridan’s The Boxer and was assistant director on Pat O’Connor’s Dancing At Lughnasa.
Subsequently appointed Head of Production at Irish Screen, McLoughlin co-produced a number of films including Vicious Circle and When The Sky Falls, with Joan Allen and Pete Postlethwaite.
In 2000, McLoughlin set up his own production outfit, Distinguished Features, with Clare Scully. The company recently co-produced Terence Ryan’s Puckoon with Elliot Gould (currently on release), and produced Robert Quinn’s Dead Bodies, which will be released by Buena Vista on 25 April. This stylish dark thriller, set in present-day Dublin, is one of the first projects to have been shot on the digital hi definition format and was made with financial support from the Irish Film Board’s low-budget initiative which encourages Irish filmmaking and promotes local talent.
