film profile], Elie Wajeman is now preparing his second opus, Les anarchistes, which is among the five feature-film projects selected by the second 2014 session of the Ile-de-France Region’s Support Fund for the Film and Audiovisual Technical Industry.

Written by the director together with Gaëlle Macé, the story plunges the audience into the heart of Paris in 1899, with a police sergeant having been picked to infiltrate a group of anarchists. For him it represents the opportunity to progress up the ranks. However, after being forced to make constant compromises, he becomes increasingly divided. He hands over his police reports to his superior, but he also starts to develop more and more genuine feelings for the group. And that is when the Austrians make an appearance and suggest a military intervention to the group... Produced by Lola Gans for 24 Mai Production, Les anarchistes will star Tahar Rahim, Anaïs Demoustier, Swann Arlaud, Cédric Kahn and Guillaume Gouix. The film will be backed by the Ile-de-France region to the tune of €480,000.

The Ile-de-France region will also be supporting (to the tune of €440,000) Journal d'une femme de chambre by Benoît Jacquot, a new adaptation of the novel by Octave Mirbeau (already adapted once for the screen in 1964 by Luis Buñuel). Produced by Les Films du Lendemain and JPG Films, and co-produced by Belgium’s Les Films du Fleuve, the film is set to star Léa Seydoux and Vincent Lindon.

The other projects selected in this session are Et moi, et moi, et moi, the feature debut by Cécile Maistre, a comedy-drama due to star Denis Podalydès and Judith Chemla (Mact Productions – with funding of €400,000), as well as the documentaries Les saisons [+see also:
