The Franco-German Co-production Support Commission met last week in Paris and agreed to grant €820,000 to three projects, including a majority German co-production and two majority French titles.

film profile], was the most generously financed. This new biopic by Marie Noëlle, following Ludwig II [+see also:

film profile], which was co-written and directed with her late husband, Peter Sehr, earned Munich-based company P’Artisan Filmproduktion (in charge of 61% of the project) €250,000, while its French partner, Sépia Production, received €80,000. The film is also being co-produced by Polish outfit Pokromski-Studio.

Mustang, the feature debut by France-based director Deniz Gamze Ergüven, which tells the story of five Turkish sisters as they grow up from children into adults, sees a collaboration between Paris-based Aurora Films (C Vincent) and Vistamar Film (F Henschke) in Germany, as well as Istanbul-based Bam Film. The Commission granted €140,000 to the first company and €70,000 to the second. Distribution in France and international sales will be handled by Pyramide.

film profile]), in which Mikhaël Hers will depict a family’s three-year mourning period, split across Paris, Berlin and New York, earned €180,000 for Nord-Ouest Films (80%) and €100,000 for Berlin-based firm Katuh Studio (Vanessa Ciszewski).

The deadline for sending in applications for the next round of Franco-German Co-production Support has been set for 9 May. The Commission will meet in Berlin on 20 June.
