Selling 368,832 tickets, Norwegian director Arild Fröhlich’s Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder took the number-one position on the Norwegian charts for the first six months of 2014, contributing to the 20.9% local market share – up from 11.6% in 2013 and the best result for the last five years. 

Also, Norwegian director Arne Lindtner Næss Casper and Emma’s Winter Vacation reached the number-four spot, taking 210,516 admissions, and a Swedish feature, Felix Herngren’s The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared [+see also:

, got to number six, with 192,551 admissions.

“Films for children and family audiences are predominant on the list of this year’s top ten films,” said Birgitte Langballe, head of communications at Norwegian cinema association Film & Kino, which published the theatrical attendance statistics.

Between 1 January and 30 June, Norwegian cinemas recorded 5,080,756 admissions – 1.6% more than last year; local releases (a record number of 24) accounted for 1,061,985, 82.6% more than during the same period in 2013.

The top ten films of 2014 so far in Norway are:

2: Frozen 3D (US); directors: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee; 288,527 admissions
3: The Wolf of Wall Street (US); director: Martin Scorsese; 225,681 admissions
4: Casper and Emma’s Winter Vacation (Norway); 210,516 admissions
5: Rio 2 (US); director: Carlos Saldanha; 201,716 admissions
6: The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (Sweden); 192,551 admissions
7: The LEGO Movie 3D (US); directors: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller; 153,736 admissions
8: X-Men: Days of Future Past 3D (US); director: Bryan Singer; 132,814 admissions
9: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug 3D (US); director: Peter Jackson; 132,658 admissions
10: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 3D (US); directors: Cody Cameron, Kris Pearn; 127,547 admissions.
