film profile] will have its world premiere out of competition at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival (see news), is already attached to a new project named Virados do Avesso (lit. “Turned Inside Out”).
An openly commercial turn in the career of the director with experimental tendencies, Virados do Avesso is a €600,000 production and will be shot in just three weeks. Cinemate, the outfit behind Portuguese cinema’s biggest hit in 2013, 7 Pecados Rurais, is producing the film.
Known as “the Hot Jesus” since his involvement in US-series-turned-film The Bible, Diogo Morgado is set to star in this comedy alongside actor Jorge Corrula. Together they will play a gay couple facing an unexpected event in their relationship as one day one of them wakes up and simply forgets his sexual orientation. Rejecting his five-year-long relationship, he then starts to behave as a straight, single party animal!
The cast also includes Nuno Melo (who starred in Pêra’s latest 2011 feature film, O Barão), Isabel Medina, Marina Albuquerque and belly dancer Vanessa Ferreira. Virados do Avesso is expected to premiere on 20 November.
