Anica dates at the Venice Film Festival

Anica (National Association of Film, Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries) will organise four international meetings and will present Italian cinema market research at the 71st Venice International Film Festival, at the Lido from 27 August to 6 September.

Three international meetings will take place as part of AnicaIncontra, in collaboration with Mibact. It all kicks off on Saturday 30 August with Columbia, which at 11am (in the Anica area on the third floor of the Excelsior Hotel, within the Venice Film Market) will present the 'New scenarios for Italian cinema' initiative to Italian producers. This is a new fund created to attract foreign production companies; through a 'cash rebate' mechanism it offers a refund of up to 40% of production-incurred costs. With a budget of 10 million dollars per year, the fund created by the Columbian government is part of the country's broadest plan of opening up to Europe in recent times.

Monday 1 September, at 11am, Brazil's turn; based on the existing co-development agreement, this meeting will provide an opportunity for Brazilian and Italian operators to meet. At the heart of the debate are opportunities for co-productions, as well as existing facilities in the South American country for young directors and producers. Finally FilmCup will be presented, the initiative forecasted for November between San Paolo and Rio de Janeiro, in which professionals from the Italian audiovisual industry will meet their Brazilian counterparts.

Tuesday 2 September (11am), the meeting organised in partnership with UK Trade & Investment, 'UK - Italy: the way forward to co-production', in which existing opportunities for Italian and English producers will be compared both in terms of tax incentives and local financing. At the end of the debate the winner of the UK-Italy Creative Industries Best Innovative Budget Award will be announced, thus celebrating the best film industry financial planning for both countries.

Wednesday 3 September (10.30am), the fourth and final international meeting, with China. Seventy days after the entry into force of the implementing rules to the Italy-China co-production treaty, the Italian film industry offers Chinese delegations visiting the Venice Film Festival a coherent project of joint activities. A proactive system that involves all of the most important sectors of our audiovisual industry, starting from the Anica desk specially opened in China.

The final date in Venice, presented by Cinetel at the Casa dello Spettacolo (Lungomare Marconi 14) is the 3rd edition of 'Sala e salotto' (Cinema and living room), a study by Ergo Research that makes an original and qualitative analysis of Italian cinema market data for cinema showings and on all other supports.
