John S. Johnson, co-founder of BuzzFeed, which has just announced a dedicated feature film division, will deliver the keynote address at Power to the Pixel: The Cross-Media Forum (7-10 October) in London. Johnson is also Founder and Executive Director of The Harmony Institute, a research organisation analysing the impact of entertainment media on society.

Johnson said, “It’s time to rethink how we measure the success and impact of entertainment to better unlock creative and commercial potential. I’m honoured to share some of the models and strategies we can adopt to achieve this with the forward-thinking audience of Power to the Pixel’s Cross-Media Forum.”

Liz Rosenthal, CEO and Founder of Power to the Pixel said, “John needs little introduction as a true pioneer who has founded a suite of significant forward-thinking media organisations. His talk will set the scene for this year’s edition where we’re paying particular attention to the companies who have successfully created new models to incubate and invest in the latest innovative entertainment brands and story formats.” 

Other speakers include Mikko Pöllä, Group Creative Director at Rovio Entertainment, best known for creating the Angry Birds franchise; Nick Fortugno, Chief Commercial Officer at Playmatics, best known for designing Diner Dash, a top-selling casual game; Francesca Panetta, the Guardian’s Multimedia Special Projects Editor; Loc Dao, the Head of Digital Content and Strategy at the National Film Board of Canada; Lili Blumers, Head of Development, Web Productions for ARTE France and many more. 

The event is held in association with the BFI London Film Festival.
