- The Swedish bring to the Croisette their young talents, waiting for Bergman's feature which is not finished
Sweden will have to be content with the selection of four short films at this year’s Cannes since Ingmar Bergman’s Saraband will not be ready in time for the Festival.
November Snow, by Karolina Jonsson is one of a total of 7 shorts selected for the Official Competition. This drama about a mother-and-daughter relationship stars Anja Landgré and Bojan Westin.
Måste, an animated film by Erik Rosenlund, will compete in International Critics’ Week while two other Swedish shorts, the animated Göken Ulla (Cuckoo Ulla) by Johan Hagelback, and Baker Karim’s The Apple Tree will screen out of competition in Critics’ Week. The film which stars Baker Karim and his brother, Alexander, is a tender and moving account of two African brothers struggling to cope with the freezing Swedish weather
Baker Karim, who originates from Uganda, took part in last year’s Critics’ Week main section with his short film entitled Malcolm. Both Malcolm and The Apple Tree were produced by one of Sweden’s most successful slates, Memfis (Jalla, Jalla, Lilja 4-Ever [+see also:
