Emma is the lead character in The Model [+see also:
film profile], which features a story written by Anders Frithiof August, Martin Zandvliet and the director himself, about an emerging Danish model who – while struggling to enter the Parisian scene – falls in love with a slightly older photographer, Shane, and her glamorous life at the top turns into real drama.
“After spending eight months meeting Denmark’s 60-70 top models, it was clear to me that Maria Palm was ideal for the part – she has strong presence, great sensitivity, and she really makes an impact,” explained Matthiesen, who started seven weeks of principal photography for the drama on location in Paris, set to continue in Warsaw and Copenhagen.
Palm has appeared in campaigns for Marc by Marc Jacobs, Diesel, YSL, Zara and l’Oreal, among other brands. Well-known from the HBO TV series Game of Thrones, UK actor Ed Skrein, who plays the photographer, also plays the lead in French director Camille Delamarre’s upcoming action film, The Transporter Legacy [+see also:
The Model will be produced by Jonas Bagger, and executive-produced by Marie Gade and Louise Vesth, for Zentropa Entertainments, with Zentropa International Poland and Sweden, Sputnik Film Poland, and Swedish regional film centre Film i Väst. Nordisk Film is handling the local release (scheduled for 2015) and TrustNordisk international sales.
