) together with Gilles Legrand, the story unfolds in 1918. Charles is a 48-year-old cavalry officer who comes back from the front minus one leg. The war has taken everything away from him: his dignity, his horses, his hunting dogs. All he does is mope around at home. Meanwhile, Angèle is a young nurse who life has not been kind to. The single mother has just lost her partner, a former jockey. A beautiful friendship is born between the two – but when Charles expresses his wish to turn their friendship into marriage, their relationship is turned upside down by a total lack of pleasure and desire…

Produced by Frédéric Brillion for Epithète Films, L’Odeur de la mandarine is co-produced by Davis Films and France 3 Cinéma. Having been pre-purchased by OCS (Orange Cinéma Séries), the feature is also being backed by the La Banque Postale Image 8 Sofica. The eight-week shoot will take place in the Centre region. The rights for distribution in France and for international sales have been acquired by Metropolitan.

For the record, Epithète Films currently has Notre fils (read the article) by Yves Angelo (who is also the DoP on L’Odeur de la mandarine) in post-production.
