European Film Festival Winners

Pleasant Days by Hungary’s Kornél Mundruczó won the Iris Award (and a Euros10,000 purse) at the European Film Festival of Brussels. The festival ended on 3 May with the screening of Italian actress, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi’s directorial feature debut, Il est plus facile pour un chameau… [+see also:

Norway’s Aksel Hennie won the SN Brussels Airlines best actor award for Jonny Vang by Jens Lien with the best actress nod going to Russia’s Marina Zubanova for With Love Lilja by Larisa Sadilova. UK production, The Death of Klinghoffer, won its director, Penny Woolcock, a special mention.
This year's edition received sponsorship from Belgium’s two state broadcasters: they bought the TV rights to two films for Euros10,000 each: Pleasant Days by Kornél Mundruczó and Tussenland by Holland’s Eugenie Jansen.
Directed by film producer, Dominique Janne, the festival focused on first and second films, and was a popular success.
