A few hours after the closure of the festival and the retirement of artistic director Marco Muller, who is returning to teach at university in Switzerland, the General Manager of the Rome Film Festival Foundation Lamberto Mancini resigned. 

Mr. Mancini held this position since the spring of 2012, after 15 years of experience in the film industry with Cinecittà Studios and ANICA

According to reports, in recent months Mr. Mancini received a job offer form the Italian Touring Club. No controversy with the festival however: "I didn’t want the news of my resignation to distract from the Festival machine. I decided to accept a professional opportunity that arose".

In the coming months the founding members will have to contend with significant changes, like the appointment of a new artistic director for a festival event that wants to become "popular" once again as well as the project to combine the Film Festival with the Fiction Festival.
